Is Chery iCAR V23 a Cheaper Version of Suzuki Jimny?
LienApr 17, 2024, 03:12 PM
Recently, the Chery iCAR V23, a new "off-road" electric vehicle model directly from China, immediately attracted attention on the Internet after its images were exposed. Its appearance is a bit similar to the Suzuki Jimny, a classic multipurpose vehicle that is popular with customers in many countries around the world.
So, is Chery Auto developing a new compact SUV? Do Thais have the opportunity to experience the real thing? What is the brand iCAR? Is this car related to the Suzuki Jimny?
iCar is jointly developed by Chery and Zhimi Technology, and the latter is a subsidiary of Xiaomi with a clear division of responsibilities. Chery is responsible for production, sales, and after-sales service, while Zhimi handles planning and engineering. They plan to launch 6-8 new models within the next 3 years, one of which is the iCar V23, which includes some details such as body size. Let's take a look.
Exterior Design: A fusion of retro and modern, does it remind you of Suzuki Jimny?
In terms of exterior design, it cleverly integrated retro elements with modern aesthetics. The body lines are tough, and the square box shape echoes the classic. The new LOGO design, round light shape, and widened wheel eyebrows bring a modern touch. This design technique not only gives iCAR V23 a fashionable look but also reflects Chery's design philosophy of respecting both tradition and innovation.
The design of the rear of the iCAR V23 is also full of ingenuity, the small backpack design is not only a highlight of the rear of the car, but also it is connected with the interior space, providing users with additional storage space.
The side-opening method of the tailgate and the reserved anchor point interface provide more possibilities for personalized modification. The four millimeter-wave radars on board make the L2+ intelligent driving assist function of this model a reality.

Interior Design: A Combination of Comfort and Technology
Inside the car, the iCAR V23 continues the rounded square design elements, the two-color design with yellow embellishments enhances the overall visual effect.
The large screen in the center and the physical buttons below, as well as the embossed decorations on the knobs, all highlight this model's pursuit of comfort and technological sense. However, it is still in the trial assembly stage, and everything has to wait until it goes on the market to be confirmed.
Power system: Platform architecture and endurance
The power system of iCAR V23 is built on a new platform architecture, offering models of single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive.
Although the official has not published detailed parameters, the mileage of the rear-wheel drive version is more than 400km, and the four-wheel drive version exceeds 500km. This data clearly shows Chery's emphasis on the endurance of electric vehicles. The new car is expected to hit the market at the end of 2024.
The release of the Chery iCAR V23 is not only an attempt to combine retro and modern styles but also a tribute to Suzuki Jimny from Chinese automakers.
