The Jaecoo J5 is confirmed to be introduced in Malaysia and is slated for the fourth quarter of 2025. Emily Lek, Vice President of Jaecoo Malaysia, said: "We are excited and looking forward to expanding Jaecoo's product line in Malaysia. Jaecoo J5 will be adapted to cater fully to the Malaysian market, based on our extensive market research. Malaysia can expect to witness the debut of Jaecoo J5 in the fourth quarter of 2025."

At the 2024 Omoda Jaecoo International Global User Ecological Summit, the new Jaecoo J5 made its first appearance. This car is positioned as the brand's entry-level model. It is not only designed for urban young people but also has pet-friendly features, including an air conditioning filter system to block pet hair and an antibacterial health device to inhibit the growth of bacteria in the car. It even has a feeding device and step for pets.

In terms of body size, the Jaecoo J5 is positioned as a B-segment SUV with a body length of 4,380 mm, a width of 1,860 mm, a height of 1,650 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,620 mm. It is similar to the Honda HR-V, Proton X50, and the same brand's Chery Omoda 5, etc. As for the exterior design, the Jaecoo J5 is similar to its larger sibling, the Jaecoo J7, featuring a rectangular body design. The front grille resembles a waterfall, with vertical slats cascading down, flanked by contemporary rectangular LED headlights on both sides.

In terms of power system, Jaecoo J5 shares the 1.6-liter four-cylinder TGDi engine with the larger Jaecoo J7, which can produce 195 PS and 290 Nm of torque, and is paired with a 7-speed wet DCT. The car comes in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive versions. Like the Jaecoo J7, it has an off-road driving mode, the official statement is that it can tow up to 1,250 kilograms, and the roof rack can carry 75 kilograms.
