【PCauto】On March 31, 2025, Mazda announced that the new energy SUV will be named EZ-60.

From the available information, the Mazda EZ-60 continues the Mazda family-style design. The front face adopts a shield-shaped grille, paired with slender headlights, which is highly recognizable.

The side of the body adopts a fastback design, the overall lines are sleek, and it is expected to have a lower drag coefficient, which not only enhances the aesthetic appearance of the vehicle, but also helps to improve the driving range. Based on the size, the EZ-60 is likely to be positioned as a mid-size SUV, and some configurations or models may be equipped with electronic rearview mirrors to provide drivers with a better view.

In terms of platform and power, the EZ-60 will be built based on the CHANGAN EPA 1 platform. The power system is expected to offer a variety of choices, including pure electric and range extender versions. Among them, the standard E-Skyactiv EV configuration may be equipped with a power of 254 horsepower and a 68.8kwh battery, with an estimated driving range of about 480km, while the long-range version is expected to be equipped with a power of 241 horsepower and an 80kwh battery, with a range of about 550km. In addition, the range extender version may be equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a smaller battery pack to meet various driving needs of consumers.

Although the official has not yet announced the exact release date, combined with the release date of the trailer, the new vehicle is likely to debut at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show (April 25-May 2).
Looking back at Mazda's layout in the Southeast Asian market, on February 14, 2025, Mazda Co., Ltd. and Mazda Sales Thailand Co., Ltd. announced the plan to invest 15 billion Thai baht (approximately 150 million US dollars) in Thailand for the production of electric compact SUV, with an annual production capacity target of 100,000 vehicles. The vehicles will be mainly exported to ASEAN countries and Japan to meet the growing demand for new energy vehicles. This series of actions shows that Mazda is actively accelerating its electrification layout in the Southeast Asian market.

The possibility of the all-new EZ-60 landing in the Southeast Asian market is extremely high. Before this, another new energy vehicle model EZ-6 under Mazda has been successfully introduced into the Thai market. As CHANGAN Mazda's first electric flagship car focuses on the global market, the EZ-6 (known as Mazda 6e in the European market) combines Mazda's hundred-year experience of vehicle-making with Changan Automobile's leading electrification technology.

The demand for electric vehicles in the Thai market is surging rapidly. The introduction of the Mazda EZ-6 is undoubtedly crucial in its electrification transformation in the Southeast Asian market. The popularity of EZ-6 gives Southeast Asian consumers more expectations for the upcoming EZ-60.
