BYD's pickup truck has some new developments.
Some time ago, BYD released new information about this pickup truck on social media abroad. According to the released information, the new car is built on the DMO platform and equipped with a plug-in hybrid power system. And the new car is expected to be officially released later this year.

The first application of the DMO platform was on the BAO 5 of the Equation Leopard, and the BAO 5 car also made its debut at the 45th Bangkok Auto Show, albeit in a left-hand drive form. Without a doubt, BYD's pickup model will share a platform with the BAO 5. The DMO platform, short for Dual Mode Off-Road, is a super hybrid off-road platform in Chinese. This platform is an off-road platform mainly driven by electricity, and the platform can accommodate engines of two different displacements, 1.5T and 2.0T.

The DMO platform also can carry intelligent "three locks", namely the front axle differential lock, the rear axle differential lock, and the central differential lock. Compared with the mechanical differential lock, the intelligent differential lock has the advantages of fast response and wider torque distribution range. In addition, the DMO platform can also make the vehicle support functions such as 6-kilowatt external discharge, 20-kilowatt on-site charging, V2V (vehicle to vehicle) power rescue, etc. At the same time, the platform can also match the Yunnian-P chassis system.
