Volvo EX30 was launched in Malaysia today. The car made its global debut in June last year, built on GEELY's Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA). Due to the acquisition of Volvo by GEELY, the car is currently imported entirely (CBU) from China, but plans to start CKD local assembly in 2025. The car is ranked below the Volvo XC40 and Volvo C40 in the local product line and is an entry-level all-electric SUV. It plans to compete with Smart #1 and the upcoming Zeekr X.

There are three models of the 2024 Volvo EX30 on sale in the country, with prices ranging from RM 188,888 to RM 228,888. It is currently the cheapest and most affordable electric car from Volvo. It comes standard with a five-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 160,000 km battery warranty.
2024 Volvo EX30 Plus: RM 188,888
2024 Volvo EX30 Ultra: RM 208,888
2024 Volvo EX30 Ultra Twin Performance: RM 228,888

Regarding the power system, the Plus and Ultra models are equipped with a rear single motor of 200kw and a torque of 242N·m. The cruising range under CLTC conditions can reach 476km, and the zero to hundred acceleration time is 5.3s. The top-of-the-line ultra twin performance model has the highest performance front and rear dual motors, with an output power of up to 315KW and a torque of 543N·m. The cruising range is 450km, and the time for zero to hundred acceleration is 3.6s. Overall, the maximum speed of the three models is equal to 183km/h, and the power performance of the top-equipped model ultra twin performance is the most excellent, with little difference in cruising range.
In terms of charging, the Volvo EX30 supports up to 175kW DC charging, which can charge the vehicle's power from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes. For AC charging, Volvo only chooses an 11kW onboard charger for all its models in Malaysia.

The Volvo EX30 is positioned as a C-class car, and is the smallest electric SUV under Volvo, with a body length of 4233mm, a width of 1838mm, a height of 1550mm, and a wheelbase of 2650mm. The trunk capacity is 318 liters. If the rear seats are folded down at the ratio of 60:40, it can be expanded to 718 liters, including a 61-liter floor compartment.

In terms of design, the exterior of the Volvo EX30 does not look as heavy as the larger Volvo XC40. The wide body and sloping roof lines create a quite sporty appearance, and overall it looks more light and agile than the Volvo XC40. The exterior of the car offers five color options: blue, gray, white, black and yellow, with the overall color being on the lighter side.

The interior of Volvo adopts a minimalist style design and claims that this car has the lowest carbon footprint in its series. It uses a large amount of sustainable and natural environmental protection materials. The dashboard is equipped with a large flat-panel computer-style display that controls most of the vehicle's functions. Volvo no longer installs speakers on separate doors, but moves them to the integrated Harman Kardon Premium strip speaker on top of the dashboard. Therefore, the doors provide more storage space.
