[PCauto]Following its initial launch in the Thai market, the Volvo ES90 is set to be released in Malaysia in the first quarter of 2026. This all-electric sedan built on the SPA2 platform will reflect a luxury brand’s fresh understanding of electric vehicles in terms of design and technology.

The exterior of the ES90 considers real-world driving scenarios

The exterior design of the ES90 showcases Volvo's deep consideration for electric vehicle design. It doesn't adopt an overly idealized shape but instead integrates smooth coupe-like lines into classic sedan proportions. This design conforms to general aesthetic preferences while also optimizing aerodynamic performance. The combination of the front headlights and the closed grille is a seamless blend of simplicity with the brand's signature style.

What is particularly noteworthy is that the ES90 features a ground clearance of 178mm. This detail reflects Volvo's consideration for practical usability on diverse road conditions. In Malaysia's varied road environments, the slightly higher chassis can significantly reduce the risk of scraping during daily driving.

The interior of the ES90 will feature eco-friendly materials

Inside the cabin, the ES90 extensively utilizes natural, renewable materials, including Nordico eco-friendly fabrics and certified wood trim, as well as a panoramic sunroof with variable tinting, which comes standard across all trims.

The core interactive interface is a 14.5-inch vertical center control screen equipped with the next-generation Volvo Car UX system. This center control screen is not just a simple collection of functions but builds a driver-centered intelligent interactive ecosystem with clear hierarchical logic and locally optimized Google services (including maps, assistants, and app stores).

In addition, the high-end models are equipped with a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, which, when combined with the silent electric drive chassis, creates a unique immersive music space.

The ES90's range will reach 755km

In terms of the electric drive system, the ES90 is built on an 800V high-voltage architecture, achieving a fast-charging capability of up to 350 kW, and is expected to add about 300 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes.

For the Malaysia market, the rear-wheel-drive version is introduced first. The single motor outputs 333 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.6 seconds. The rear-wheel-drive version is also equipped with a 92 kWh battery, with a WLTP comprehensive range of up to 755 kilometers.

The ES90 intelligent driving system will feature the Orin high-performance chip

In terms of intelligent configuration, the ES90 is equipped with a computing platform centered on the high-performance NVIDIA Drive AGX Orin chip. The perception system is composed of multiple high-definition cameras, millimeter-wave radars, and ultrasonic sensors.

Another point worth noting is that starting from 2026, newly produced vehicles will no longer be pre-installed with Luminar LiDAR. The ES90 may rely more on a powerful visual and radar fusion perception solution, with its intelligent driving capabilities gradually unlocked through software updates.
