Xiaomi SU7 now available in China, with a maximum range of 830km, starting price about 1,091,000 Thai Baht

On March 28, Xiaomi SU7 officially went on sale in China, with a total of 3 models launched, priced between 215,900 and 299,900 yuan (about 1,091,000 to 1,515,000 Thai baht). As the first model of Xiaomi's automobile, the SU7 is built on a brand-new super 800V silicon carbide high-pressure platform independently developed by Xiaomi. It is equipped with its own CTB integrated battery technology, and the CLTC pure electric endurance can be up to 830km, The acceleration time of the four-wheel drive model from 0 to 100km/h is only 2.78 seconds. In addition, it is equipped with the Xiaomi Surging OS smart car machine system, built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, and equipped with two Nvidia Orin chips, ranking first in the first echelon of intelligent performance.

Official guide prices for each Xiaomi SU7 sub-model:

-SU7 Standard version 700km: 215,900 yuan (about 1,091,000 Thai baht).

-SU7 Pro version 830km: 245,900 yuan (about 1,243,000 Thai baht).

-SU7 Max version 800km: 299,900 yuan (about 1,515,000 Thai baht).

At the press conference, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said that the Standard version and the MAX version will start to be delivered at the end of April, and the Pro version will start to be delivered at the end of May. Because the SU7 is the first vehicle to be launched after Xiaomi entered the automotive field, for the first batch of car buyers, Xiaomi provided an exclusive logo of the founder edition, used on the car body, wing panel, center console, and steering wheel, which has a little meaning of limited edition or commemorative edition.

Lei Jun previously stated: “The Xiaomi SU7 is delivered upon launch, and once delivered, it should achieve large volumes," with a sales target to be among the top three pure electric luxury cars, and an annual delivery target of 100,000 units. The aim is to enter the premier league of the industry, and through 15 to 20 years of effort, Xiaomi Auto aims to be one of the top five car manufacturers globally.

However, given the current popularity of the Xiaomi SU7 in the Chinese market, and combined with its explosive prices and strong product capabilities, Lei Jun's sales expectations for the SU7 may be too understated. The real challenge is likely to be a shortage of supply in the early stages, with production capacity being the greatest test for the SU7. According to previous plans, the annual production capacity of the first phase of the Xiaomi Auto factory is 150,000 units, with the second phase due to start in 2024 and be completed by 2025. The first batch of Xiaomi car stores covers 29 cities in China, with a total of 59 stores and 17 limited-time exhibition halls. The preparation work for the second batch of stores is also being accelerated.

The Exterior Design of Xiaomi SU7

The exterior design of the Xiaomi SU7 should be familiar to many and has made a deep impression. Notably, the exterior of the Xiaomi SU7 has been designed by Mr. Li Tian, a former designer of BMW iX, with the front face of the car featuring a signature "mi" shape for the headlights, which is creative and easily recognizable.

For the wheels, Xiaomi SU7 offers a choice of 4-wheel hub styles and sizes, as well as a variety of tires with different brands and performance orientations. The base model features 19-inch low-resistance wheel hubs and Michelin e·Primacy low-rolling-resistance tires, which are energy efficient. In terms of size, the Xiaomi SU7 is positioned as a medium and large sedan, with its length, width, and height being 4997/1963/1455mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 3000mm. Regarding space, the Xiaomi SU7 front row has a vertical space of 1012mm, and a rear knee space of 105mm, which Lei Jun says is superior to the 59mm of the Tesla Model S and the 55mm of the BMW 5 series. In addition, the trunk of the Xiaomi SU7 has a volume of 517 liters, with a standard depth of 1136mm, and when the back row is put down, the volume can reach 1959mm. Its front compartment also has a volume of 105 liters, which has a good advantage in loading.

In terms of interior, the overall layout of the Xiaomi SU7 is very simple. What catches the eye is a 16.1-inch 3K resolution center control screen, which has the function of adjustable sunflower angle and integrates most of the functions of the car. As for the city NOA, Lei Jun said that the test will start in April, officially open to 10 cities in May, and go national in August, with very high efficiency.

Performance of the power system

In terms of power, the Xiaomi SU7 offers an option of a single-motor rear-wheel drive and a double-motor four-wheel drive. The single motor has a maximum power of 220 kilowatts (299 horsepower), a peak torque of 400 Newton meters, a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 5.28 seconds, and a top speed of 210km/h. The dual motor version has a front motor with a maximum power of 220 kilowatts and a rear motor maximum power of 275 kilowatts, combined system power of 495 kilowatts (673 horsepower), system peak torque of 838 Newton meters, equipped with Boost mode, instantly providing 0.95g acceleration, 0-100km/h acceleration time is only 2.78 seconds, 0-200km/h acceleration time is 10.67 seconds, top speed can reach 265km/h. Additionally, with the help of Brembo four-piston brake calipers, the 100-0km/h braking distance is only 33.3 meters.

In terms of range, according to different configurations, it is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery pack (BYD) from Xiangyang Fredy, and a ternary lithium battery pack from CATL, with battery capacities of 73.6 kWh, 94.3 kWh, and 101 kWh respectively. The pure electric driving range corresponding to 73.6 kWh is 700km, that to 94.3 kWh is 830km, and 101 kWh is 800km (all in CLTC conditions). In addition, the Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with an 800V high voltage platform, combined with a CATL Kirin battery, it can achieve a charging performance of 220km range for 5 minutes charging, and 510km range for 15 minutes charging.

In terms of chassis, the Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with an intelligent chassis, with a 50:50 weight distribution. It uses an all-aluminum front double ball joint double wishbone rear five-link independent form and is equipped with air suspension, supporting 4-level adjustable height and soft and hard adjustment, as well as a continuously adjustable CDC shock absorber. According to the official statement, the Xiaomi SU7 can achieve adaptive road conditions, air dynamics, cornering posture, and active side wings, with a moose test result of 82km/h.
