Proton Will Return to Singapore with e.MAS 7

【PCauto】Ten years after Protpn left the Singapore's automobile market, it's said that Proton will come back with e.MAS 7.
Proton has gradually withdrawn from Singapore's automobile market after selling vehicles in Singapore through its subsidiary in 2014. Later, Geely acquired Proton's shares, whose restructuring of Proton's product lineup has revitalized the brand. Moreover, the brands of Geely like Lotus, Volvo and Zeekr in Singapore can also facilitate the development of Proton in Singapore.
Proton's confidence in re-entering Singapore based on the domestic sales of e.MAS 7. Since its launch, e.MAS 7 has topped Malaysia's EV sales charts for three consecutive months, delivering 1,853 units in Q1 2025, with annual projections exceeding 32,000 units.
Proton chooses to return to Singapore now because it sees the opportunity of development in the local automobile market, as Singapore is promoting green travel, and the electric vehicle market is developing rapidly. In 2022, electric vehicles accounted for 12% of the automobile market in Singapore, which rose to 18% in 2023, with expected reaching 55% by 2027.
In order to successfully enter the Singapore's automobile market, Proton has chosen the Vincar as its official distributor, which will operate a flagship store in Leng Kee Motor City, where consumers can buy and maintain their vehicles in the future.
Proton has not yet announced the price of e.MAS 7 in Singapore. In Malaysia, the starting price of the Prime version is RM105,800, and the Premium version is RM119,800. It is expected that the price of e.MAS 7 in Singapore will be higher because of customs duties, transportation costs, and the starting price may reach 174,000 S$174,000.
It's planned that e.MAS 7 will appear in Singapore's car showrooms as early as August, allowing test drive.
Beyond sales, Proton aims to reshape its image as a technologically advanced and enviromental-friendly automaker for Singaporean consumers.
