Market Environment Analysis

Advantages Compared to Competing Products

From the current market situation, after the launch of QIN L DM-i, a dual-car structure of large and small QIN with QIN PLUS will be formed, competing with Nissan Sylphy, Honda Civic, etc., which have a monthly average sales volume of over 10,000 in the C-Segment in China. And it will also compete with Nissan Teana and Toyota Camry in the D-Segment.

Relatively speaking, relying on BYD's leadership in the field of new energy, QIN L DM-i has leading advantages in terms of brand awareness, brand reputation, brand credibility, and brand reputation. This strengthens consumer trust, provides sufficient safety guarantee, reduces worries, and this is also one of the reasons for BYD's continued sales.

Secondly, even without the brand endorsement, the fifth-generation technology loaded by QIN L DM-i has shown super strong competitiveness in terms of power performance, fuel economy, and comprehensive endurance. It is a dimension reduction attack on traditional fuel vehicles of the same level, and basically leads a generation compared with new energy vehicles of the same level. At the same time, QIN L has certain advantages in appearance, body size, intelligence, and configuration.

In addition, it is worth mentioning that BYD's fourth-generation DM technology has completely got rid of the stereotype of the plug-in hybrid system that "Smooth with power, slow without power", which has promoted the popularity and development of the plug-in hybrid system. Now the fifth-generation DM-i technology integrates the advantages of HEV hybrid, PHEV plug-in hybrid, EREV extended-range hybrid, and EV pure electric drive, bringing a better experience to consumers.

In conclusion

After the launch of BYD QIN L DM-i, it further enriches BYD's product matrix and provides more choices for consumers. The QIN L DM-i and QIN PLUS form a duo, which is expected to achieve an effect of 1+1 greater than or equal to 2, leveraging more potential fuel car market users and accelerating the development of new energy vehicles.

At the same time, the arrival of QIN L DM-i has formed a encirclement and interception situation for the traditional joint-venture fuel vehicles, further squeezing their living space, and forcing them to adopt price reduction promotions or model upgrades and other strategies to challenge the market, which indirectly benefits the majority of consumers.

In addition, the release of BYD's fifth-generation DM technology not only represents BYD's own technological strength and innovation ability, but also a microcosm of the booming development and technological progress of China's new energy vehicle industry. At the same time, this technology highlights BYD's leading position in the research and application of new energy technology, and further consolidates its competitiveness in the global new energy vehicle market.

Review of BYD's DM Technology

In 2008, BYD introduced the first generation of DM hybrid system and it was first applied to the world's first mass-produced plug-in hybrid model - F3 DM, which was priced at 149,800 RMB. The first-generation DM technology uses a dual-motor structure, which belongs to a parallel structure. It drives purely electrically at low speeds. When the battery energy is insufficient, the engine works to generate electricity for the drive motor. At high speed, the engine directly drives the vehicle, similarly to the Honda i-MMD hybrid technology. However, due to being in the period of technical exploration, the reputation of the first generation plug-in hybrid technology in the market was just normal, but this generation of technology laid the foundation of China's new energy technology.

By 2013, BYD had launched the second-generation DM technology. Compared with the first generation DM, it has a great improvement in efficiency, power, and energy-saving. The BYD QIN equipped with this hybrid system can accelerate to 100 kilometers in just 5.9 seconds, with an NEDC composite fuel consumption of 1.6L/100km, perfectly balancing performance and energy consumption.

In addition, the second-generation DM technology of BYD already has the concept of "energy recovery". It converts kinetic energy into electrical energy stored in the power battery pack during deceleration to increase cruising range. At the same time, this generation of technology already supports charging and discharging functions. It can convert alternating current from the electric grid into direct current for charging, and it also can convert direct current in the battery into alternating current for discharging. Thanks to these advanced technologies, BYD QIN quickly became the sales champion of China's new energy vehicles.

In 2018, BYD introduced the third generation of DM technology, which made significant adjustments compared to the second generation DM, upgrading to three motors. In addition to the original differential motor, the generator of the traditional gasoline car was replaced with a BSG motor, used to start the engine and idle power generation when the vehicle is stationary, and an additional motor is added at the rear axle to drive the rear wheels, making the vehicle four-wheel drive.

BYD also calls this generation of DM technology the "tri-motor dual-mode" power system. "Tri-motor" refers to three sources of power, and "dual-mode" refers to hybrid power mode and pure electric mode. The two modes can be freely switched. The first model equipped with this hybrid system is BYD TANG, which can easily achieve a zero to hundred acceleration time of 4.5 seconds in its standard version, and the high-end version can reach 4.3 seconds, which was absolutely top-notch at the time.

In 2021, BYD launched the strongest fourth-generation hybrid system DM-i. Compared to previous DM technologies, DM-i is a completely new design, not only possessing ultimate performance, but also perfectly balancing fuel consumption. It solves the high fuel consumption problem in the feedback state of previous generations, thoroughly refreshing the understanding of plug-in hybrid systems, and taking Chinese new energy vehicles to a new height.

Proton's first pure electric car, eMAS 7, is launched, targeting BYD ATTO 3 everywhere

Although the Proton eMAS 7 was recently launched, I have to mention the ATTO 3, because the targeting of the Proton eMAS 7 is too obvious.First, you can tell from the price. The BYD Atto 3 costs at least RM149,800, and even if BYD lowers the price by RM20,000, Proton can still ensure the price advantage of the eMAS 7. That is to say, the pricing of Proton eMAS 7 is very smart. The eMAS 7 has launched two versions:Proton e.MAS 7 Prime priced at RM109,800Proton e.MAS 7 Premium priced at RM123,800Th
