【PCauto】Mazda CX-60 is a significant model for Mazda's entry into the premium SUV segment. However, despite high domestic demand, it is unlikely to be launched in Malaysia.

In terms of design, the CX-60 retains Mazda's signature family elements while incorporating new design language. The long hood design not only accommodates a longitudinally mounted engine but also lends the vehicle an elegant and dynamic posture. The front fascia features a black mesh grille paired with surrounding black decorative strips, exuding a strong sense of sportiness. The mirror-like logo complements the integrated high and low beam headlights, and the clever extension of the LED light strip further enhances the vehicle's recognizability. The side profile of the car is sleek, with well-proportioned lines that showcase Mazda's consistent pursuit of premium quality and strength.

In terms of size, the CX-60 measures 4740mm in length, 2134mm in width, and 1688mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2870mm. Although not outstanding in its class, the overall design style makes it visually and experientially grand.

The powertrain is a highlight of the CX-60. Mazda offers a variety of power options for the CX-60. Among them, the 2.5L Skyactiv-G + PHEV plug-in hybrid system is particularly impressive, combining a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor. The gasoline engine delivers 189 horsepower, while the electric motor provides 134 horsepower, resulting in a combined output of 323 horsepower.

Additionally, there are options like the 3.3L e-Skyactiv-G turbocharged engine (280Hp + 450Nm) and the 3.3L e-Skyactiv-D diesel turbocharged engine (250Hp + 550Nm). These rich powertrain configurations give the CX-60 strong competitiveness in its class.

The interior of the CX-60 creates a warm and luxurious driving atmosphere. The cabin extensively uses fabrics, wood, and leather, complemented by appropriate ambient lighting to create a soothing and pleasant environment. Mazda has also finely tuned the body structure, seats, suspension, steering, and sound insulation to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience for passengers.

The center console is wrapped in high-grade leather, with some areas featuring suede to enhance touch and texture. The two-tone steering wheel offers a comfortable grip, and the 12.3-inch central touchscreen paired with a triple LCD instrument panel not only adds a sense of technology but also provides a more dynamic display, making it easier for drivers to access various information.

In the US market, the CX-60 starts at approximately $42,000, which converts to about RM190,260, with the top-end version potentially exceeding $55,000, equivalent to approximately RM249,150.

This means that the CX-60's positioning determines its relatively high price. In Malaysia, its price is comparable to that of the Benz GLA. Currently, the Benz GLA is priced between RM248,888 and RM295,888. However, it must be acknowledged that Mazda's brand appeal is not as strong as that of Benz.
Moreover, Malaysia's tax structure based on engine capacity makes the price disadvantage of some larger engine models of the CX-60 more pronounced under such tax policies.
Additionally, from a competitive perspective, the SUV market in Malaysia is fiercely competitive, with numerous mainstream SUV models from Japanese and Korean brands, as well as competition from European brands. These competitors have been established in the local market for many years, with well-developed sales networks and after-sales service systems.

As a newcomer, the CX-60 would need to invest significant resources in market promotion and channel development to carve out a share in such a market environment. As mentioned earlier, Mazda's brand influence in Malaysia is relatively limited, and consumer awareness and recognition of the Mazda brand still need improvement compared to some mainstream brands, which adds to the difficulty of the CX-60 entering the Malaysian market.
