The latest data from our government's statistical website, data.gov.my, has been updated. As of April 30, 2024, Perodua firmly holds the first place in the sales rank of automobile brands in our country with a cumulative sales volume exceeding 111,000 units. Proton ranks second, and Toyota ranks third. What's surprising is that Chery ranks sixth!

Data.gov.my is a website set up by our government, mainly to compile data from various industries, including the automotive industry. The sales data of the automotive industry is obtained from JPJ, so the accuracy of the data is very high. According to the website's statistics, Perodua bagged the sales championship in the first four months of 2024, with a total cumulative sales of 112,843 units, averaging 28,210 units per month, which is a good performance.

Proton, which ranks second, had a sales volume of 49,340 units in the first four months. It is worth noting that the B-Segment SUV sales champion X50 has seen a decline in sales, with the sales volume in the first four months of this year being 6,910 units, a significant decrease compared to last year. However, considering this model has been on the market for four years, such sales performance is reasonable. It is reported that Proton will introduce a minor upgraded model this year, but we are not sure when it will be put on sale. However, it is worth mentioning that since its launch in 2020, the cumulative sales of this model have reached 110,000 units, making it the most successful Proton model in recent years.

Among the top ten, in addition to Japanese brands and domestic brands, there is also a Chinese brand - Chery, which ranks sixth with a sales volume of 5,777 units. Among them, the Omoda 5, which has gained popularity in Malaysia due to its low price and high configuration, has a sales volume of 4,795 units in the first four months. This is indeed a good performance for the model of a new brand. It is reported that Chery will introduce more models to Malaysia, providing us with more choices. However, some previous issues may affect the future sales performance of Chery, which will require subsequent action from Chery Malaysia to remedy.

Additionally, here are the sales data for the top ten car brands in Malaysia for the first four months of 2024:

1. Perodua: 112,843 units

2. Proton: 49,340 units

3. Toyota: 39,184 units

4. Honda: 27,439 units

5. Mazda: 5,975 units

6. Chery: 5,777 units

7. Mitsubishi: 5,642 units

8. Mercedes Benz: 4,560 units

9. Bmw: 3,431 units

10. Nissan: 2,866 units
