On November 15, 2024, at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China, Denza officially launched its new model, the Denza Z9. The vehicle is available in five different configurations, with prices ranging from 334,800 to 414,800 RMB. According to previous media reports, Denza’s MPV model, the Denza D9, is set to debut in Southeast Asian markets such as Malaysia and Thailand in the first quarter of 2025. Now, the newly launched Denza Z9 sedan is also highly anticipated. Let’s take a closer look at this car!

Denza is a joint venture brand founded in 2010 by BYD, a leading Chinese new energy vehicle company, and Daimler, a global luxury car manufacturer. Its headquarters is located in Shenzhen, China. The newly launched Denza Z9 is positioned as a large luxury sedan, available in both pure electric and plug-in hybrid versions. The entire lineup features the "Yisangfang" technology and the Yunnian-A body control system, along with high-level intelligent driver assistance systems.

In terms of exterior design, the Denza Z9 adopts classic elements from the Denza Z9GT, with a front face that closely resembles that of the Z9GT. The headlights are sleek and seamlessly integrate independent LED daytime running lights. The front bumper features two laser radars on either side to support the vehicle’s advanced driving assistance features. The pure electric model has a closed black diamond-patterned grille design, while the plug-in hybrid version comes with an active air intake grille above the license plate area, and a mesh-like intake design on the front bumper. This design highlights both environmental considerations and performance enhancements.

From the side view, the Denza Z9 features a sedan layout that closely resembles the Denza Z9GT up to the B-pillar. The rear triangular windows have been enlarged, and the rear windshield angle has been slightly adjusted and raised. The rear spoiler found on the Z9GT has been removed, but an electric rear wing is retained. Additionally, the black decorative trim on the side of the Z9GT has been removed, and the car features a side mirror with a camera (streaming media) and hidden door handles.

At the rear, the Denza Z9’s design is noticeably different from that of the Z9GT, adopting a more traditional sedan rear structure. The tail lights are long and narrow, with eight light sources on each side, making the car highly recognizable when lit. The vehicle is available in four colors: Night Purple, Moon White, Star Gray, and Starry Black.

Inside, the Denza Z9 largely follows the design style of the Z9GT, with a focus on fine-tuning details. Notably, it features a gear shifter in a "wristwatch" style, which simplifies the center console and frees up space for a wireless charging panel for phones, with additional storage below in a hollow design. Other elements remain largely unchanged, including the 17.3-inch floating central touchscreen, the 13.2-inch passenger entertainment screen, and the 13.2-inch full digital instrument cluster. The steering wheel retains its four-spoke design, but a three-spoke option is also available.

In terms of intelligent driving, the Denza Z9 adopts an end-to-end large model architecture. The car is equipped with 33 intelligent driving sensors, including two laser radars, enabling L2+ intelligent assistance functions. These include nationwide no-map high-speed navigation, city navigation, full-scene intelligent parking, and AEB emergency braking.

In terms of powertrain, the Denza Z9’s pure electric model is equipped with a motor that delivers a total power of 710 kW, with a pure electric all-wheel-drive range of 630 km. The plug-in hybrid model features a 2.0T engine with a maximum power of 152 kW, paired with an electric motor delivering a total power of 640 kW. It uses a 38.512 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a WLTC pure electric range of 161 km, with fuel consumption of 6.6 L/100 km when the battery is depleted. The combined range can reach up to 1,100 km. On the chassis side, the Denza Z9 is equipped with the Yunnian-A body control system and features rear-wheel dual-motor independent steering technology, offering a maximum steering angle of 20 degrees and a minimum turning radius of 4.62 meters. It also supports features such as U-turns, easy three-point parking, and intelligent crab walk.
