Zeekr Launches 1.2MW Full Liquid-Cooled Charging Station, Setting Global Peak Power Record

[PCauto] According to Zeekr's official announcement, the company is set to unveil the world's first 1.2MW full liquid-cooled charging station, along with a megawatt fast charging station equipped with ten 1200kW liquid-cooled charging units. This charging station boasts a peak power of 1.2MW per nozzle, making it the highest in the world, surpassing the 1000kW charging technology previously showcased by BYD.
Currently, Zeekr has established 1,500 charging stations in China, with plans to exceed 10,000 units by 2026. The 1.2MW full liquid-cooled charging station is expected to begin operations in the market in the second quarter of this year.
Southeast Asia, as an emerging force in the global automotive market, has demonstrated immense potential in the field of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in recent years. Governments across the region have introduced policies to promote the development of NEVs. For instance, Thailand plans to increase electric vehicle production to 30% of total automotive output by 2030; Malaysia aims for EV sales to account for 15% by 2030, rising to 38% by 2040; and Indonesia has set a goal for electric vehicles to comprise 25% of sales by 2030. As the sales of NEVs gradually grow, the demand for efficient charging infrastructure becomes increasingly urgent.
Currently, the construction of charging infrastructure in Southeast Asia is underway. In 2023, Thailand saw a significant increase in electric vehicle sales, leading the region in electric vehicle market penetration in Southeast Asia. According to the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), electric vehicle sales in Thailand are expected to exceed 100,000 units in 2024. Given this context, the demand for charging stations has become more pressing. Vietnam's Ministry of Transport has mandated that charging stations must be installed in highway service areas, while urban and residential areas, along with new investment infrastructure, are also formulating regulations for charging station construction. The Indonesian government has established special funds to encourage the research, development, and production of new energy and charging facilities, and PLN (State Electricity Company) has led the formation of the first charging station standards. Meanwhile, the Malaysian government has set a target to build 10,000 charging stations by 2025.
With its ultra-high power output, Zeekr's 1.2MW full liquid-cooled charging station is expected to provide Southeast Asian NEV users with a faster and more convenient charging experience, significantly reducing charging times. Should Zeekr introduce this advanced charging technology to the Southeast Asian market in the future, along with its planned extensive fast charging station network, it will greatly enhance the convenience of using NEVs in the region, further promoting their adoption.
The competition in the ultra-fast charging sector is also intensifying. Besides BYD, HUAWEI is set to officially launch its megawatt supercharging technology on April 22, boasting a maximum charging current of 2400A and a maximum output of 1.5MW, delivering impressive charging efficiency.
For Southeast Asia, the debut of Zeekr's 1.2MW full liquid-cooled charging station is undoubtedly a notable event of significance, which represents a new pinnacle in charging technology. We look forward to Zeekr bringing this advanced technology to Southeast Asia soon, providing local consumers with an enhanced experience in using new energy vehicles.
