This new car, positioned in the 500,000 price range, is in the same price range as the Jeep Wrangler. Although there's a huge gap between the two in terms of exterior style, power type, and tech configuration.
The exterior design of the BYD Bao 8 continues the Formula Leopard's familial design language, creating an overall look that is full of sci-fi and power. In the front, the wide grille is connected to the sharp headlight group, creating a wider visual effect and making the whole front of the vehicle look more domineering. The lower surround shows its wild side with heavy covers, further enhancing the off-road feel of the vehicle.
In terms of body size, the length, width, and height of the BYD Bao 8 are 5195/1994/1875 (including roof luggage rack 1905) mm, and the wheelbase is 2920mm. The side view shows a wide vehicle contour and strong shoulders, coupled with mechanical gear texture wheels, displaying a sense of power to the fullest.
At the rear, the BYD Bao 8's wraparound spare tire cover design is inspired by planetary rings, complementing the unique tail lights on both sides, creating a very high recognition. This design is not only graceful and generous, but also further enhances the uniqueness of the vehicle.
Upon entering the vehicle, the BYD Bao 8 exudes a tough style while integrating a strong sense of technology. Additionally, the new car is equipped with AR-HUD, a full LCD dashboard and a copilot screen, all of which support interconnection functions, enabling the driver to conveniently access various pieces of information while driving.
The interior seats of the car adopt a 6/7 seat configuration. All the seats in the car support electric adjustment and provide convenient control for the second row and one-key entry for the third row. This design not only meets the needs of different consumers but also makes the interior space more flexible and changeable. Regarding smart driving, the Bao 8 comes packed with Huawei's Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 3.0 system, realizing the full scene penetration of the "parking space to parking space" assisted by intelligent navigation.
As for the power, BYD Bao 8 is equipped with a 2.0T engine and a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 200kw motor for the front and a 300kw motor for the rear. At the same time, the new vehicle is equipped with the Yun Che-P system, which can adjust the softness and hardness of the chassis, as well as the height, further enhancing its off-road capabilities.
Conclusion
Traditional Hardcore SUVs like the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco have undergone decades of development. Their product stability and off-road capabilities have been tested over time, giving them a robust reputation in the hardcore SUV market that is appreciated by consumers worldwide. However, there are trade-offs with all products, and these hardcore SUVs have left many car owners troubled over comfort, specifications, and energy consumption.
The BYD Bao 8, as a new car positioned in the 500,000-yuan market, balances comfort, technology and other product strengths. In addition to its luxurious workmanship and configuration, the key is the boost from the motor brings a strong power output, ensuring the ability to extricate itself in outdoor off-road situations. However, whether the new energy hard-core SUV can adapt to the harsh environment of outdoor off-roading still needs time to verify.
