[PCauto] Recently, Dongfeng Motors launched two new electric vehicles in Malaysia. One is the mid-size electric sedan Dongfeng 007, and the other is the B-class electric SUV Dongfeng Vigo. The two cars are positioned differently, complementing each other to meet diverse needs.

Take the Dongfeng 007 for example, the official release includes two versions: Premium and Prime Performance, with very distinct differences, making it unnecessary to overthink when choosing. The Premium version focuses on balanced practicality, while the Prime Performance version emphasizes performance.
Moreover, the interior space of the car has been thoughtfully optimized, with body dimensions of 4880mm×1895mm×1465mm and a wheelbase of 2915mm. The trunk capacity is also 452 liters, making it sufficient for both passengers and storage.

To match its spatial performance, the two versions of Dongfeng 007 also differ significantly in terms of power output.
- The Premium version is equipped with a rear single motor, which outputs 268 horsepower (200kW) and 310N·m of torque, achieving 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 5.8 seconds.
- The Prime Performance version further upgrades to a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, delivering a combined power of 544 horsepower (400kW) and 620N·m of torque, achieving 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 3.9 seconds.
Additionally, both models are equipped with a 73.48kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC range of 650 kilometers and 565 kilometers respectively. They support 6.6kW AC slow charging and 200kW DC fast charging.

Another model, which conveniently complements the mid-to-high-end Dongfeng 007, is the Dongfeng Vigo, positioned as a B-segment electric SUV. It mainly caters to daily commuting needs. In fact, it is known as the familiar NAMMI 06 in the Chinese market.
This time, it is launched in Malaysia with only one Premier version, which is sufficient to meet the requirements of daily commuting.

Vigo is also well-suited to urban driving needs in terms of space. Vigo's body dimensions are 4306mm×1868mm×1654mm, with a wheelbase of 2715mm. The standard trunk capacity is 500 liters, which is entirely sufficient for daily storage needs. In this regard, Vigo is quite similar to Wuling Bingo, which is also exported to Malaysia. Both cars are designed for urban commuting, but when it comes to commuting experience and practicality, Vigo clearly stands out.
The small and flexible body of Bingo is an advantage, but its body dimensions and wheelbase are much smaller than Vigo’s, making its space performance relatively inferior. Additionally, Vigo’s power and range are better than Bingo’s, and the fast-charging speed is significantly faster. Coupled with Vigo’s unique split-tailgate design, it makes loading items more flexible.

| Vehicle Model | Length | Width | Height | Wheelbase |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dongfeng Vigo | 4306 | 1868 | 1654 | 2715 |
| Wuling Binguo | 3950 | 1708 | 1580 | 2560 |
Note: The units of the data in the table are uniformly in millimeters(mm)
Speaking of core positioning as urban commuting, Vigo’s power primarily focuses on practicality and economy. It is equipped with a front single motor that delivers 161 horsepower and 230N・m of torque, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 9.5 seconds.
In terms of the battery, it uses a 51.87kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, providing a CLTC range of up to 471 km.

As for the pricing that consumers are most concerned about, Dongfeng has offered sufficiently competitive pricing this time, launching three models with certain pricing advantages and limited-time discounts as well.
| Model Version | Official Price (RM) | Limited-Time Discount Price (RM) |
|---|---|---|
| 007 Premium | 169,888 | 161,000 |
| 007 Prime Performance | 195,888 | 187,000 |
| Vigo Premier | 108,888 | 100,000 |

Actually, apart from space and performance, the configurations of these two cars also align with their respective positioning. Let's first talk about the Dongfeng 007, which follows a mid-to-high-end route. When it comes to configurations, it really spares no expense, aiming to make you sit comfortably and use it conveniently in every aspect.
- 15.6-inch central control screen, supports CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
- Equipped with 8.8-inch digital dashboard
- Comes with electrically adjustable ventilated front seats
- Interior uses vegan leather, paired with 19-speaker WANOS sound system
- The wheels vary by version: Premier edition has 18-inch wheels, Prime Performance edition has 19-inch wheels

Now looking at the Dongfeng Vigo, it is particularly smart. It avoids those flashy features and focuses on the essentials, just meeting the main requirements for commuting.
- Equipped with a 12.8-inch central control screen, also supports CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
- The front seats are electric, with ventilation and memory functions
- Comes with a panoramic glass roof
- Also features 18-inch black alloy wheels

Simply put, both of these cars are very competitive. Dongfeng 007 focuses on the mid-to-high-end market, targeting the mid-size electric sedan market, competing alongside popular models like BYD Seal; Dongfeng Vigo stands out with its flexible space, securing a foothold in its segment with significant advantages. Looking forward to seeing how these two cars perform in the local market in the future.

The launch of Perodua Traz indicates that the market size of small SUVs in Malaysia has been expanding in recent years. However, the question naturally shifts back to Toyota. Perodua Traz VS Toyota Yaris Cross, where does the Traz fall short?
Before the official launch of the Perodua Traz, market expectations were actually very high because it shares the same DNGA platform as the Toyota Yaris Cross. However, sharing the same platform does not equate to the same experience, and the Traz's final performance has indeed been disappointing. Perhaps it is precisely because of the delayed launch that it has almost no competitiveness in the current competitive environment.
