Longer endurance, longer life! BYD announces the launch of a new generation of blade batteries in 2025!

On November 25th, during the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), Mr. Cao Shuang, General Manager of BYD's European Automotive Sales Division for the Central Asia region, stated that BYD plans to launch a new generation of Blade Batteries in 2025. This new battery will improve the driving range of their vehicles and extend the battery's lifespan.

The BYD Blade Battery was first introduced on March 29, 2020. It uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology and was initially installed in the BYD "Han" model.
In penetration tests, the Blade Battery showed remarkable safety features. When pierced, the battery did not catch fire, emit smoke, and the surface temperature only reached between 30-60°C, with no noticeable changes to an egg placed on the surface, which remained in a liquid state. This test demonstrated that the "Blade Battery" effectively avoids the "thermal runaway" risks associated with traditional power batteries, offering superior safety.

It is worth mentioning that the BYD "Blade Battery" achieves a structural innovation by eliminating the traditional "module" in its design. This increases the space efficiency within the battery pack, allowing more battery cells to be packed into the same volume. Compared to traditional battery packs with modules, the volume utilization rate of the BYD Blade Battery is improved by over 50%, while the driving range is comparable to high-energy-density ternary lithium batteries.
