But now, starting from just over RM100k, you can purchase an electric vehicle with decent range, rich features, and sufficient for daily commuting, with quite a few options available.
Proton e.MAS 5, starting price RM56,800
The Proton e.MAS 5 is currently one of the cheapest EVs.
- The Prime version is priced at RM56,800.
- The Premium version is priced at RM69,800.

Dongfeng Box, starting price RM100,000
The Dongfeng Box is a compact pure electric vehicle from Dongfeng Motor, designed for urban and daily commuting. It will enter the Malaysian market at the end of 2024, distributed by Central Auto Distributors Berhad. Box is available in two local versions:
- Box E2 priced at RM100,000
- Box 3 priced at RM113,000

Proton e.MAS 7, starting price at RM105,800
The Proton e.MAS 7 is Proton’s first pure electric SUV. Officially delivered in December 2024, the e.MAS 7 has maintained robust sales in the local market and leads its class in the electric vehicle category.
As of the end of October 2025, cumulative sales of the e.MAS 7 have reached 7,413 units, with approximately 6,954 units sold locally and around 459 units exported to overseas markets, maintaining its position as Malaysia's best-selling electric vehicle for ten consecutive months in 2025.

Leapmotor B10, starting price RM107,800
The Leapmotor B10 is a mid-size pure electric SUV introduced to Malaysia by Stellantis and officially launched in late 2025.
The B10 is available locally in two versions: Life and Design. The official starting price for the Life version is approximately RM107,800 (excluding insurance), while the higher-spec Design version starts at approximately RM118,800.
