On the Eve of the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, BYD Released 4 Products of the BAO with a High Profile

On the evening of April 16th, at the 2024 BAO's spring launch held in Shenzhen, the BAO "583" family - BAO 5, BAO 8, and BAO 3 (SUPER 3) concept cars debuted together, and the all-electric supercar BAO 9 (SUPER 9) concept car was also launched for the first time. The BAO 5, BAO 8, and BAO 3 concept cars are all built on the BYD DMO super hybrid off-road platform, and the BAO 8 and BAO 3 concept cars made their first appearance; the BAO 9 supercar concept is the ultimate interpretation of BAO's "performance aesthetics". The BAO product matrix on display this time will also be exhibited at the 2024 Beijing International Auto Show which starts on April 25th.

I. BAO 8 Production Version

The BAO 8 is officially positioned as a "super hybrid tough flagship SUV", and it is understood that its size is even larger than that of the Yangwang U8.

In terms of appearance, the overall outline is square and tough, very powerful and technological. The front face adopts a bite-type structure, and the docking lock is stable and reliable. There is a super-large air intake grille named "Energy Shield", while the front bumper also incorporates family elements of super buckle. The "Starship Wing" front lights and "Energy Propulsion" tail lights are very unique, and the planetary ring spare tire cover of the tail is the highlight design of the tail.

The BAO 8 uses a "Starship V-shaped face" side profile, and the pseudo-metallic cutting effect has resulted in a decent light and shadow effect. The ratio of the body and windows is 3:1, not only providing a wide field of vision but also presenting a full volume, full of power.

Based on the information available, the BAO 8 features a non-bearing body structure and a double-wishbone suspension layout and is equipped with a Yunlian-P smart body control system. It also supports 140mm suspension adjustment travel, 1000mm extreme wading, and 16 + N full-scene modes such as BAO turn.

In terms of power, the BAO 8 may be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 2.0T engine and a dual motor, where the maximum power of the engine is 245 horsepower, and the parameters of the electric motor are not yet revealed. The price of BAO 8 is expected to be around 500,000 yuan, and it may be launched in the second half of 2024.

II. Concept Car of Super BAO 3 (SUPER 3)

The BAO 3 concept car adopts the "Star Wars Vehicle Design Aesthetics", with an overall style full of sci-fi feel. Its headlight is named "Star Wars BAO Eye", and several "Star Wars Armor" design elements are used to adorn the body. The front face is equipped with a "Wisdom Screen Display of Internet of Everything", featuring emotional expression and customisable functions.

The side fenders of the body adopt a raised design, and the Star Wars stance highlights the strength of the entire car.

The double-layer linear star war taillights are very simple and sharp, and the star war wing tail shape creates a combat posture, unique and characteristic.

The BAO 3 concept car is also equipped with a vehicular unmanned aerial system, which can operate the drone to take off and land on the roof, and also has a variety of functional expansion gameplay, which is very playable.

III. BAO 9 (SUPER 9) Concept Super Sports Car

BAO 9 (SUPER 9) concept supercar is the first pure electric supercar under the Formula Leopard, which is officially defined by the brand as the "ultimate solution to performance aesthetics". This new car was designed by BYD's design director Wolfgang Egger, adopting an aerodynamic design that combines aesthetics and performance.

The BAO 9 concept supercar adopts avant-garde designs such as floating twin-wing butterfly doors, "space capsule" dual cockpits, open-top, multi-functional cool steering wheel, carbon fiber matrix body skeleton, integrated carbon fiber seats, etc., and outlines up to 9 airways with curves.

The officials claimed that the BAO 9 concept supercar, as a Speedster category sports car, adopts an avant-garde design only for the most powerful performance. From an overhead view, you can feel the beauty and strength of this car. The new car pursues the ultimate in aerodynamics and weight-reduction structures. It is claimed to "become a paradigm for high-performance sports cars in the electric vehicle era".
