[PCauto] If December 2025 holds any special significance for Perodua, it would likely be the brand's unprecedented busy pace. The month began with the launch of the QV-E pure electric vehicle, followed by the Traz in mid-December. This rapid-fire launch cadence is unusual for the brand.
However, compared to the QV-E, which carries symbolic significance as a national EV, the Traz is much more low-key. But it is actually a model that has been discussed for nearly five years. The project started as early as 2021 but was delayed until now due to factors such as the Daihatsu safety test incident.
Traz Variants and Pricing:
- X: RM 76,100
- H: RM 81,100 (Two-tone paint option: RM 82,000)

The Traz Shares the DNGA Platform with the Yaris Cross
Built on the DNGA platform, the Traz shares nearly identical dimensions with the ASEAN-spec Toyota Yaris Cross, measuring 4,310 mm in length with a 2,620 mm wheelbase. Overall, it is positioned between the Ativa and Aruz.
These dimensions ensure it doesn't feel bulky in city traffic while offering noticeably better rear-seat comfort and trunk space compared to the Ativa in family use scenarios.
Its 471-liter trunk capacity stands out in its class, offering great practicality for families who frequently travel on weekends or return to their hometowns.

The Traz Favors Practicality Over Feature Abundance
The Traz adopts a modest approach to its interior and technology, prioritizing comfort, practicality, and intuitive operation. Compared to rivals boasting more luxurious and feature-rich specifications, the Traz positions itself as a vehicle for long-term, worry-free ownership, with reduced concerns over electronic complexity or high maintenance costs.
While its feature list may be modest, the Traz still comes standard with six airbags across all variants and includes the Perodua Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) suite, including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Blind Spot Monitoring, Forward Start Reminder, Pedal Misoperation Control, as well as Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and front/rear corner sensors.

Powertrain: A Proven Gasoline-Only Setup
While sharing its basic architecture with the Yaris Cross, the Traz notably forgoes a hybrid system (likely for cost reasons) in favor of the proven 2NR-VE 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, paired with a D-CVT transmission, delivering a maximum output of 106 PS and 138 Nm. The official fuel consumption figure is 21.3 km/L.
This powertrain combination is well-proven in the region, with core advantages including smooth operation, fuel efficiency, and low maintenance costs.

Market Positioning: Coexistence with the Ativa
The lower-priced Ativa will continue to cater to a younger, feature-seeking demographic, while the Traz is positioned as a family's first SUV.
Perodua itself describes the Traz's target buyers as families with one or two children, who are upgrading from models like the Myvi.

Priced between RM 76,100 and RM 81,100, the Traz's positioning is not the most aggressive in the B-SUV segment. However, its competitive space, fuel efficiency, and comprehensive safety features deliver solid value. It appears particularly well-suited for pragmatic buyers who prioritize ownership costs over the latest hybrid or advanced driver-assistance technology.
