Recently, BYD officially released the latest official images of its new MPV model - "XIA". Different from the previous official images, the new image adopts the new Chinese "XIA" logo instead of the BYD logo.

"XIA" has currently started blind-ordering in China and is expected to officially go on sale within the year. The price is expected to be around 300,000 RMB, this car, as a series MPV model under BYD, it which said that there are plans to also introduce it to Southeast Asia.

In terms of exterior design, "XIA" integrates Chinese excellent traditional cultural elements and cleverly combines landscape environment, creating simple and majestic car lines. The front face part, through the "dragon whiskers" decorative strip and large-size front grille combination, and the exquisite dragon scale armor element embellishment in the grille, that not only enhances the vehicle's sense of hierarchy, but also significantly enhances the overall texture and visual impact, the overall design is ingeniously similar to that of BYD's high-end brand DENZA.
Denza D9 has officially announced its entry into the Thai market, which is the fourth market in the Asia-Pacific region layout of the Tengshi brand after Hong Kong, Cambodia, and Singapore in China. According to BYD's global market layout pace, this XIA model may also enter the Southeast Asian market in the future.

On the side of the car body, "XIA" adopts a flat roof design. This design not only provides spacious headroom for passengers in the car, but also further optimizes riding comfort. The design of the back is also full of highlight. The through-type light group and the small spoiler on the top of the tail complement each other, adding more dynamic elements to the vehicle.

In terms of body size, "XIA" has a length, width, and height of 514519701805 mm, with a wheelbase reaching 3045 mm, clearly targeting the medium and large MPV market. In addition, the new car adopts a hidden slide rail design, not only improving the fluency and aesthetics of the side, but also indicating that it will provide a more flexible seat layout, and it is expected to launch a 2+2+3 seven-seat configuration.

In terms of power, "XIA" will be equipped with BYD's latest fifth-generation DM hybrid system, becoming a major highlight of this model. According to the declaration information, the new car has a curb weight of 2780 kg, equipped with a plug-in hybrid power system composed of a 1.5T engine and an electric motor. Among them, the battery capacity is 38 kilowatt-hours, the pure electric range can reach 145 kilometers, and the combined fuel consumption per 100 kilometers is only 6.50 liters. According to Lu Tian, the general manager of BYD Dynasty's online sales business department, the car is built with the latest C-NCAP five-star safety standard, which is one of the most stringent safety standards in the automotive industry.
This standard covers multiple dimensions such as frontal collision, side collision, and rollover tests to ensure that the vehicle provides the highest level of occupant protection in accidents.
The XIA is equipped with 10 airbags, including front dual airbags, side airbags, and full-size curtain airbags. At the same time, it adopts a high-strength steel body structure, accounting for more than 70%, which can effectively absorb and disperse the impact force.

In terms of active safety, the XIA MPV is equipped with the BYD DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system, which supports full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic emergency braking functions, significantly reducing driving risks. These safety features, combined with advanced battery protection technology, provide peace of mind for family users.

In terms of interior design, the XIA continues the elegant style of its exterior. It uses two-tone leather upholstery, and the seats offer heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The in-car layout is centered around a 2+ 2+3 seven-seat configuration. The second-row independent seats support electric adjustment and legrest extension, creating a first-class cabin-like comfort experience.

Highlight features of the technological configuration include a 15.6-inch rotating central control screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, running the BYD DiLink 5.0 system, which supports voice control and 5G connectivity.

In addition, the vehicle is equipped with dual-zone automatic air conditioning, ambient lighting, and a wireless charging panel to enhance daily convenience. Thanks to the 3045-millimeter wheelbase, the third-row seats can be folded flat, and the luggage compartment volume can be expanded to 1500 liters, meeting diverse travel needs.

Power performance is the core advantage of the XIA. It is equipped with BYD's fifth-generation DM plug-in hybrid system, where a 1.5T engine works in tandem with an electric motor. The system's combined power reaches 300 horsepower, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 7.5 seconds. The pure-electric range is 145 kilometers, meeting the needs of urban commuting; in hybrid mode, the combined range exceeds 1000 kilometers, and the fuel consumption per 100 kilometers is as low as 6.50 liters.

The XIA supports DC fast charging, which can charge the battery to 80% in 30 minutes, while it takes 3 hours to fully charge with home AC charging. This efficient power combination not only reduces the cost of use but also cuts down carbon emissions, meeting the Southeast Asian market's demand for sustainable travel. In terms of price, it is expected to be sold for 300,000 RMB (approximately RM198,000) in China. The price may fluctuate slightly due to tariff adjustments when it is introduced to Southeast Asia in the future.

The plan to introduce the XIA to the Southeast Asian market is on the agenda. BYD is actively evaluating the possibility of local production in countries such as Thailand and Malaysia. Referring to the successful launch of the Denza D9 in Thailand, the XIA is expected to enter the region in 2026 and will be initially sold through imports. As an important base for BYD in Southeast Asia, Thailand already has a well-established supply chain. The introduction of the XIA will enrich its MPV product line and directly compete with rivals such as the Toyota Alphard and Honda Odyssey.

Compared with the Alphard, the XIA has more advantages in pure-electric range and intelligent configuration, and its price is also more affordable. The Malaysian market also has great potential. BYD is in talks with local dealers and plans to promote sales in combination with the government's electric vehicle subsidy policy. Consumer feedback shows that more than 5000 orders have been attracted during the blind-booking stage in China, and Southeast Asian users are showing strong interest in its spacious interior and low fuel consumption.
