【PCauto】Recently, the Jaecoo J8 kicked off its roadshow at the 1 Utama shopping center in Selangor. While this isn't an official launch event, it has certainly caught the public's attention. Less than a year after the release of the Jaecoo J7, the J8 has made its debut and opened for pre-orders, showcasing Jaecoo's remarkably swift actions for market share.

· AWD six-seat version pre-order price: RM220,000

In terms of exterior design, the J8 boasts a rugged and powerful appearance. Its large, straight waterfall grille, coupled with sharp headlights on either side, delivers a striking visual impact.

Regarding dimensions, the J8 measures 4820×1930×1699mm with a wheelbase of 2820mm, providing spacious interiors. With options for both five-seater and six-seater configurations, it can easily cater to the needs of family outings or business use.

Inside, the Jaecoo J8 features a large integrated display comprised of a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and vehicle system. This design not only enhances  sense of technology within the cabin but also offers drivers clear, convenient information display and a smooth operating experience. Drivers can easily manage various vehicle functions such as navigation, multimedia entertainment, and vehicle settings via the central touchscreen, while the instrument cluster displays essential information like speed, RPM, and fuel consumption in real-time, allowing drivers to monitor the vehicle's status at any moment.

The interior combines brown and black themes, complemented by piano black lacquer and woodgrain accents, fostering a high-end luxury atmosphere. The use of piano black lacquer adds sheen to the interior, making it appear more refined, while the woodgrain accents bring a touch of nature and warmth, enhancing the overall impression. Additionally, the seats and panels are entirely wrapped in Nappa leather, providing a soft, delicate texture for a comfortable touch.

Notably, the J8 includes features such as wireless smartphone charging, automatic climate control, a 360-degree panoramic camera system, and 14 Sony speakers. Furthermore, it is equipped with an L2-level driver assistance system that encompasses functions like Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking.

The powertrain is one of the striking features of the J8. It is powered by a 2.0T engine that delivers a maximum output of 192 kW and peak torque of 400 N·m, paired with either a 7-speed DCT or Aisin 8AT transmission, and offers both two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions for consumers.

The success of the J7 has boosted confidence in Jaecoo, and the J8 brings significant improvements over the J7 in terms of design, space, features, and power. After the J7's release, its sales skyrocketed, positioning it as the best-selling non-national SUV in Malaysia. At that time, the Honda HR-V followed closely behind with sales of 1,550 units, while the Toyota Corolla Cross ranked third with 1,140 units sold.

Entering 2025, new car registration statistics for January revealed that Jaecoo registered 792 vehicles, placing it seventh among numerous brands. To date, Jaecoo has delivered over 9,000 vehicles in Malaysia. It can be said that the Jaecoo J8 has the potential to continue the success of the J7. Its impressive product capabilities, from exterior design to luxurious interiors, coupled with strong power and intelligent features, showcase its strong competitiveness.
