Mazda CX-9

Overview

The Mazda CX-9 is considered a larger car in the Malaysian market, with a price of around RM 319k.

Power System

Equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, the power output is linear and the torque is strong, making overtaking easy. The 0-100km/h test is achieved in 9.5 seconds, with a reverse distance of 47 meters, and the gearbox shifts smoothly and at the right time.

Fuel Consumption

Over a distance of 134.3 kilometers, with about 60/40 being highway and city driving, a total of 14.57 liters of fuel was consumed. The fuel consumption was calculated to be 10.8 liters per 100 kilometers.

Vehicle Size

In Malaysia, the CX-9 is larger in size and more difficult to park in standard parking spaces.

Interior Configuration

The Ignite Edition is equipped with burgundy leather seats, which are of good quality. The overall material use and workmanship of the interior are excellent, but some configurations, such as the infotainment screen, are slightly outdated and have poor resolution. In terms of interior space, for a person of 177cm height, there is about three tennis balls of knee space and more than one tennis ball of head space in the second row; in the third row, there are two tennis balls of knee space, but limited head space. The trunk space is 230 liters with the third row seats up, and 830 liters when down.

Driving Experience

Despite the large size of the vehicle, it is easy to judge the vehicle position while driving and the driving experience is relaxed and natural. Controls such as the steering wheel and pedals are accurately adjusted. The braking power and hardness in the initial stage can be further optimized. In corners, the control of the body is excellent, and most drivers lose confidence before reaching the limit of the vehicle's grip.

Riding Comfort

In terms of suspension, the CX-9 performs adequately on larger uneven or recessed road sections, but vibrations can be felt inside the vehicle on sharp bumpy sections. The ride feel at low speeds is busier, but improves as speed increases. The front seats provide adequate lateral support, and excellent thigh support. The versatility and comfort of the second row seats and backrest adjustment is not bad. Due to their position, the third row seats are generally comfortable. Sound insulation is excellent, and it is quieter inside at all speeds.
